Alessandra Acquafredda

She began to play saxophone at “N. Piccinni” Conservatory in Bari with Ausonio Calò, then moved to Norther Italy and as from 2011 she studied with Luca Segala at “F. Vittadini” Conservatory in Pavia, where she graduated in 2015. Thereafter, aiming at improving techniques and delving into the contemporary repertoire, she also attended the two-years postgraduate program and graduated in 2018.

She took part to several seminars and masterclasses with some of the most famous saxophone players on the international scene, such as Arno Bornkamp in 2015 and Claude Delangle in 2019 during the VII edition of “Andorra Sax Fest”.

Throughout her studies and later, she played with the most diverse groups, ranging from duo to quartet, sestet and octet up to the ten-sax ensemble both in academic and other contexts. She was awarded the first prize for a performance with a quartet at the 4° Chamber Music National Contest of Young Artists held in May 2018 in Milan.

In order to explore jazz and blues sounds as well, from 2014 to 2016 she collaborated with the “Big Dive Band”, directed by Tito Mangialajo Rantzer.

From November 2018 to October 2019, she participated to the project “LabOpera”, organized by “Claudio Abbado” Music School in Milan, IULM University and Centro Teatro Attivo theatre school, performing arrangements of Kurt Weil music for the well-known play “The Threepenny Opera” by Bertolt Brecht.

In 2020 she joined the “Midnight Saxophone Quartet”.

Besides her music studies, she graduated with honours in 2015 with a Master Degree in Languages for International Management at Catholic University of Sacred Heart in Milan and, later on, she attended a Specialized Course in Intellectual Property Rights in 2018.
