Gaetano Pappalardo

Born in 1991, in 2008 he began to study both saxophone and piano at the Musical Institute “F. Vittadini” in Pavia. After his high school diploma in 2010, in 2013 he graduated in saxophone. In 2015 he got the intermediate degree in piano. Now, he is attending the course of composition at the Conservatory of Music “G. Verdi” in Milan.

During his studies he participated in many festivals in Pavia (“Festival dei Saperi”, “Festival dei Fiori”, “Festival del Ticino”).

In 2011, he participated as a saxophonist in the concert ” La musica abita gli spazi ” at the “Grande” theatre in Brescia with the orchestra “Sentieri Selvaggi.”

In 2012 he participated in XXII Music Performance Competition organized by “Società Umanitaria”,  winning the first two qualifying rounds.

He attended the seminar “Musica senza confini – percorsi di improvvisazione musicale contemporanea” held by Walter Prati, and both the “Armonia Funzionale Jazz” course and the workshop of Jazz Improvisation held by Umberto Petrin, playing in a jazz concert in Pavia during the “Festival del Ticino 2013”.

Until he got his degree, he played in the “Vittadini Saxophone Ensemble” of the Musical Institute “F. Vittadini”, taking part in the 10th edition of the “Festival dei Fiati” in Novara (2012) and other important events. Since 2010 he has played with the “Midnight Saxophone Quartet.” He also worked with the orchestra “In Crescendo” in Vigevano (PV) during the execution of Ravel’s Bolero at the “A. Cagnoni”  theatre in Vigevano.
